  1. Short:    V2.7 AmigaDos Version replacement.

  6. VersionWB is a replacement for the usual AmigaDos Version command,
  7. which now uses XfdMaster.library if available.
  8.  
  9. If you want the version information to be presented in
  10. a requester, this program is for you. Instead of
  11. like c:version just tell the version and revision number
  12. by default, VersionWB always tells you all it could find.
  13.  
  14. VersionWB have these features:
  15.  
  16. * It will bring up a requester with the version information.
  17.  
  18. * It support several files in the command line parameter template.
  19.  
  20. * You can shift-doubleclick an icon with VersionWB and
  21.   then get all that version stuff.
  22.  
  23. * You may also pick the file you want to know the version number of
  24.   by using a file requester.
  25.  
  26. * It will find version strings in WB1.3 libraries and devices,
  27.   c:version does not, e.g. narrator.device.
  28.  
  29. * If you use it with ToolManager you can have an appicon in
  30.   your Workbench. Drop the icon on the appicon, and the
  31.   version information will be presented (if the file contains a
  32.   version string :-)

  34. * It also has an optional text output.
  35.  
  36. * It recognizes any packed file (uses xfdmaster.library).
  37.  
  38. * All other features of AmigaDos Version, as far as I know 8-).

  40. * Can be opened on a publicscreen

  48. NEW: New command line argument NOXFD. This prevents xfd.library to be opened.
  49. NEW: ToolTypes supported for MAX,PUBSCREEN,NOXFD,FILE and RES.
  50. (BUGFIX): A routine which tries to prevent '$VER:'+rubbish to be showed.

  53. V.2.7 (02.07.97) PUBLIC UPDATE

  55. BUGFIX: The '$VER: Version 1.0' in some libraries, e.g. medplayer.library, was
  56. showed if the library was resident in memory. The library is now opened
  57. again from LIBS: or DEVS:, and then the version number and revision is showed,
  58. NOT the text Version 1.0 ...
  59. Bug reported by Johan Eriksson, Sweden.
  60. BUGFIX: All error messages is now printed to the console if the TEXT argument
  61. is given.
  62. NEW: You can have default parameters which is added to the command line when
  63. you run versionwb from CLI. These are set with SetEnv VersionWB_Param "<parameters>".
  64. e.g.
  65. Setenv VersionWB_Param "TEXT FULL". This will set VersionWB to output to console
  66. if started from CLI.
  67. Feature suggested by Aaron Digulla.
  68. NEW: Command line parameter REQ added to make it possible to force VersionWB to
  69. show the version info in a requester, even though the default line is "TEXT FULL".
  70. This must be used with file managers, e.g. DOpus, if it starts VersionWB in
  71. AmigaDOS mode. THIS HAVE TO BE USED ONLY if you have set a default command line
  72. parameter list, with Setenv VersionWB_Param "<parameters>" or equivalent.
  73. BUGFIX: Forgot to check for a return value of NULL from a LoadSeg(),
  74. causing the program to hang when there were an error with LoadSeg(), e.g.
  75. the file was corrupted.
  76. Bug reported by Elias Papanikolaou and Andrija Antonijevic.
  77. NEW: Now it's possible to do "VersionWB anylib.library libs:" and then get
  78. the version info of the anylib.library file in the current directory and
  79. later the version info of the LIBS:anylib.library file. Whatever device or
  80. assign can be used instead of libs:.
